Depuis ces dernières décennies, la ville de Lille s’est hissée au rang des grandes métropoles européennes. Ce territoire connait des évolutions et des mutations rapides. Du quartier des affaires d’Euralille au Vieux Lille, en passant par la gare Saint-Sauveur ou la Citadelle, la capitale des Flandres est devenue une ville au paysage urbain, architectural et culturel varié. Le projet s’inspire de cette richesse et de cette diversité pour fabriquer nouveau morceau de ville mixte par sa programmation. Un espace urbain, vivant qui mêle activités, logements, culture et loisirs mais aussi des espaces publics et collectifs qualitatifs où la nature s’infiltre et les mobilités douces sont privilégiées.

In the last several decades the city of Lille has risen among the ranks of the large European metropolitan areas. The region has lived rapid evolutions and mutations. From the business district of Euralille to the historical neighborhood of Vieux Lille, passing through Saint-Sauveur station of the Citadelle, the capital of Flanders has become a city of varied urban, architectural, and cultural landscapes.

The project is inspired by this richness and diversity in order to create a new piece of the city, mixed in use and program. An urban space, vivid with a mix of commercial activity, housing, culture and recreation, as well as public and private open spaces where nature flourishes and pedestrian circulation is privileged.

Strategically positioned at the entry to the city, bordering the large axes that structure the urban fabric of Lille, the project reacts primarily through the building masses that are proposed. The solution thus responds simultaneously to two different challenges, one at the scale of the metropolitan area and the other at the scale of the local neighborhood.

Thus, among a heterogeneous urban landscape it constitutes an urban “stitch,” restructuring this neighborhood and creating the corner stone for the urban project to redevelop the Boulevard de la Moselle and the Port of Lille.
